Peace in Umunneochi: Hon Ume Commends Gov Otti

The member representing Umunneochi in the State House of Assembly, Hon Mathias Ume Nwachi yesterday commended Governor Alex Otti for promptly and proactively curbing the incessant insecurity challenges which bedeviled the area in the past.

Hon Ume made this known after a closed door meeting with some selected Stakeholders from Umuchieze in Umunneochi Local Government Area who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

While expressing joy that peace has returned to his earlier insecurity ridden constituency, Umunneochi, Hon Ume narrated how Lokpanta where the Regional Cattle Market is located used to be the loins den before Governor Alex Otti took over the leadership of the state last year.

The state legislator appreciated the Governor for taking several decisive security measures such as converting the Lokpanta Regional Cattle Market to a daily market and perimeter fencing of the area which to a very large extent have brought relative peace to the people and others who use the axis on a daily basis.

He further described the Governor’s security strategic steps as topnotch and excellent stressing that both the residents and passersby go about their lawful engagements unhindered now.

Hon Ume stated thus:

“You know that the epicenter of the insecurity then in Umunneochi was Lokpanta particularly the Lokpanta Cattle Market located at Umuchieze Community. The place used to be the loins den as both the locals and commuters never had peace due to incessant killings, maiming and kidnapping.

But as we are speaking that place is relatively calm and peaceful as people now go about their businesses without fear of any sort. Remember, one of the measures His Excellency, the Governor took in checkmating the insecurity is the transformation of the cattle market. The conversion of the market to a daily market helped. Secondly fencing is at more than 90% completion.

The Governor, His Excellency, Dr Alex Chioma Otti has shown that he is a consummate father and leader by making good his campaign slogan “Help is here”. Truly Umunneochi Constituency is enjoying the assistance of the benevolent Governor”.

He however described the state Governor, Dr Otti as conscientious leader who has been fair to his constituents in giving them political appointments and other benefits too numerous to mention.

“When you talk of other benefits, the Governor has willingly given several political appointments to the people of my constituency. Apart from the 17 mayors, we can pride of having some many Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and others. Notwithstanding all of these, we are still expecting more like the Oliver twist. Truly, he has been very fair to me and my fellow constituents.

A lot of the opposition members are defecting to our party, the Labour Party because of the sterling achievements of the leader of the state, the governor. Let them join and witness what they couldn’t do for so many years. Labour Party is the beautiful bride and every groom wants to have.

This is the era of governance and not politicking hence there will be mutual benefits by both parties”.

Meanwhile some of the stakeholders from Umuchieze namely the councilor representing Lokpaukwu ward 9, Hon Anthony Akuma and Mr Sopuruchukwu Igwe lauded their Honourable member, Mathias Ume Nwachi for his qualitative representation especially by promptly drawing the attention of the Governor to the insecurity which hitherto ravaged their community.

For them the passionate motion of curbing the dreaded insecurity in their community, Hon Ume moved at the floor of the hallowed chamber immediately after the proclamation of the 8 assembly proved that he was prepared for the task of leadership.

They added:

“We want you to convey our heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, the Governor for restoring peace in our community because we can now sleep with our two eyes closed. The people are happy. We very are grateful and will continue to support his administration”. END.
